The Independent Sporting Association (ISA) coordinates sporting competitions, carnivals, and representative events for its member schools across New South Wales. Its website serves as the central hub for students, parents, coaches, and administrators to access results, schedules, and key updates. We helped redevelop their site into a more modern, user-friendly and reliable platform with streamlined navigation, improved performance, and enhanced tools for managing events and resources.
The Challenge
ISA’s previous website was unstable, frequently offline, and frustratingly slow when it was available. Its outdated design created a poor user experience across desktop and mobile, while content management was cumbersome for staff.
The organisation needed a stable WordPress environment paired with a modern design that could solve issues of performance, usability, and engagement, while also supporting integration with their existing sporting data and laying the foundation to future-proof the site with upcoming data integrations from Dash.

Modern Design & User Experience
A clean, responsive design aligned with a modern update to the ISA branding, featuring a dark theme that makes the yellow brand elements stand out with stronger contrast for a more premium feel. Navigation was also reimagined to simplify the structure and guide users quickly to the most important content.
Sports & Engagement
Dedicated sport-specific pages with fixtures, ladders, and event integration, supported by an SEO-friendly structure, with future-forward readiness to integrate sports registration services from Dash.
Events
We introduced comprehensive event functionality that allows staff to easily manage schedules, while athletes and their families can stay up to date with the latest event details, locations, and times across all sports and competitions. A calendar view provides a clear, bird’s-eye overview of all ISA-related events, and functional resource tags were implemented to make filtering easy by sport type, gender, location, or year.
News & Newsletters
A dedicated news and announcements section was introduced, giving ISA staff the ability to quickly publish updates, competition results, event reports, and athlete highlights. The posts are searchable and can be categorised by sport, school, or announcement type, ensuring the wider community can easily stay informed and engaged.
We also integrated seamless newsletter functionality via Mailchimp, allowing new posts to be included in newsletters directly from within WordPress, making the process more automated and efficient.
Fixtures, Results & Ladders
We integrated the site to surface fixtures, results, and ladders directly for each sport. This provides athletes, parents, and staff with real-time access to schedules and outcomes, while school administrators have a central, reliable way to share competition information across the association.
Dash Integration
Event Data
Seamlessly sync event information including times, locations, nomination links, and team lists directly from Dash to the website. This eliminates duplication and ensures all stakeholders are working from consistent schedules.
Role Based Access
Enabled secure login with verified Dash credentials, allowing users to gain access to admin-only resources and information. Permissions flow directly from Dash, simplifying management and improving security.
Sports & Engagement
Live connections between Dash and the website for sports, genders, divisions, pathway information, and key sport contacts keeps the ISA website in sync with the most current sporting information.
The Result
The new ISA website delivers a fast, reliable platform built to meet a 99.5% uptime target. It provides a greatly improved user experience for students, parents, coaches, and schools, making it easy to find schedules, results, and news.
